Fired Up!

Dr. Jeff Sosne has developed a program called FIRED UP where parents will get hands-on practical help to manage their children’s anger. The goal is to provide the tools parents need to teach children how to recognize and manage their anger triggers.

Parents will be able to view videos, read articles, get book recommendations and see activities on the site that will teach about the stages of anger, triggers and management strategies. The program will give parents the tools to learn and practice techniques to recognize a child’s anger triggers and manage that anger.

Ladder to Regulation

This is a workshop for parents of school-age children and adolescents who are prone to emotional outbursts or dysregulation. Dr. Ally Burr-Harris will review strategies for catching the early warning signs that your child is upset, calming a child who has passed that “critical window,” and preventing future meltdowns from occurring. This workshop focuses on relationship-based strategies for parents to help their child stay calm and connected. We will also review strategies for parents to stay regulated in the face of a child’s outburst. This workshop does not just address situations when children have big behaviors like tantrums, meltdowns, or rage. It also provides strategies for parents with children who instead freeze, shut down, or get stuck in avoidance when they are dysregulated. Finally, the Ladder to Regulation workshop guides parents on when and how to use consequences that teach their child skills so that shutdowns and meltdowns are no longer a concern. This workshop is for parents and caregivers only.

Pay Attention to Attention

Dr. Sosne has designed a class for parents of elementary aged children with attention weaknesses. The new online format includes video, print, audio and other online offerings. This provides a distinct and practical alternative to books and other information sources.

Parents will learn how to direct and sustain their children’s attention at home, in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities. The class will focus on attention skills, with attention training games that help students to sustain attention, shift focus, fend off distractions, and monitor task activity. The emphasis is on practical concepts and strategies that can be used at home and school.

The class will begin with several important topics, new content will be added regularly at no extra cost to your subscription.
